North American Chinese directors are pioneering filmmakers. They grew up in China, and were educated and developed their careers in the west. The mix between east and western culture has been influencing them, and makes their movies unique. As many people have said, they are the future of Chinese films. Last week, a special screening featuring short films by 6 New York based Chinese directors took place at Quad Cinema, SinoVision Journal reporter Jane Stone went to the screening and brings you the story.
